Combatting Hair Loss With PRP Growth Treatments

Female pattern hair loss is a real thing. Usually when we think of hair loss, we get images of a man who just doesn’t want to let go of that “little bit on the side”. Losing your hair as a female can damage your self-confidence and leave you searching frantically for a hair loss cure.

Hair loss in women is a common occurrence. A staggering 40% of women in America experience visible hair loss by the age of 40. The causes of hair loss can vary from genetics, medical conditions such as alopecia, pregnancy, or simply over-styling your hair. While this hair loss may seem permanent, PRP hair growth treatments can stimulate hair growth and give you back your confidence.

What Are Platelet-Rich Plasma Treatments?

In cases such as alopecia patients platelet-rich plasma treatments (PRP) have been proven to be a successful treatment of several different types of alopecia when other long-term methods of hair restoration treatments, such as minoxidil, did not give results.

Platelet-rich plasma therapy has long been used as a treatment method. It first started out in sports-medicine  for tendon injuries and in dentistry. Where hair restoration is concerned it is not by any means an experimental treatment, although regenerative medicine may seem like a thing of the future, aestheticians have been using it prior to hair transplant surgeries to provide a fertile hair implantation ground.

How Does it Work?

Your blood plasma contains active growth factors. When using PRP treatments a highly concentrated dose of plasma which includes essential growth proteins is injected into the treatment area which promotes hair growth resulting in a fuller head of hair.

The application method of PRP hair loss treatment starts with a simple blood draw. After your blood is withdrawn it is then centrifuged (the plasma and red blood cells separated by a machine) and a thin needle is used to inject your platelet-rich plasma into the scalp. Since you will be using your own blood there are no compatibility issues.

This non-surgical, all-natural, alternative method of hair restoration has shown proven results in women who experience hair loss. The amount of treatments needed depends on the cause and severity of your hair loss. At Nina Ross Hair & Skin Therapy we will be able to asses your situation on an individual basis and come up with a treatment plan.

What Should I Expect During My Hair Restoration Procedure?

The procedure normally lasts around an hour, but may be longer depending on the quantity of your hair. Usually the area is numbed with a cream before the procedure begins so little discomfort is felt. After the completion of a PRP hair restoration treatment for hair loss you will be able to return to your everyday activities such as showering or washing your hair, although it is not recommended to use chemicals such as hair dye in the following 72 hours.

Will It Work For Me?

PRP works by strengthening the hair follicles and is known to reactivate inactive follicles as time goes on. Not everyone is a candidate for the procedure but we will be able to help determine if Platelet-rich plasma treatments are right for your cause of hair loss, or come up with an alternative treatment plan to better suite your need.

Every woman deserves to feel beautiful. Female-pattern hair loss should not keep you from feeling vibrant. If your self-confidence has been lowered due to hair thinning or loss of hair we can help you gain back a fuller healthier head of hair at Nina Ross Hair & Skin Therapy.
